What's New? Maths Worksheets on Adding 3 Numbers
This is the second set of maths worksheets on adding 3 small numbers. These are harder and need a different approach to the first set because a number has to be put in to make the number sentences correct.
For example 2 + ? + 7 = 13
There are a number of different ways that this can be approached and a number line has been included to help.
One approach is to start with the 13 and count back 2 to make 11, and then count back 7 to make 4.
Another approach is to add the 2 and 7 to make 9 and then count on from 9 to 13, which is 4.
It is always interesting to sit and discuss with your child the approach that they are taking and the reasons for it, especially with questions like these. It would also be a good idea to have some counters or cubes so that the task can be seen in a practical way.
(Eg Put 2 cubes out, then add 7 more and then add one at a time until 13 is reached.)
