Year 3 Intelligent Practice An important aspect of the teaching for mastery approach is to design ‘intelligent practice’ questions so that children are taken along a route where the thinking process is also practised. For example, a set of 5 or 6 questions will enable a child to go through the addition process but also consider the key relationships between addition, multiplication and division.
