Year 2 Maths Challenge: Four darts
Here is a nice little maths challenge for Year 2 (aged 6/7) which also gives practice with adding fives and tens. You can only score 5 or 10 on the dartboard, but how many different totals can you get by throwing 4 darts?
To begin with the rule states that all darts must score, as this limits the number of different totals. However, once the initial task has been completed the problem can be extended in several ways, including having missing darts or having more than four darts to begin with. It is important that children try to work in an order so that they don't miss any combinations or repeat any.
