Year 2 graphs: pets and brothers and sisters
Early data handling concentrates on collecting data and ordering data, using diagrams such as Venn diagrams or Carroll diagrams. It is not until towards the end of Year 2 that children are introduced to block graphs. This set of worksheets includes two examples of block graphs, with the subjects of children's pets and number of brothers and sisters. There are examples of block graphs for children to interpret as well as opportunities to collect data and make their own graphs.
At this stage the axes should go up one unit at a time and, of course, be clearly labelled.
