Year 2 maths resources: bean bag bucket challenge
Here is a great little challenge for Year 2 children to help with adding up four small numbers as well as encouraging working in a well organised way.
Sam threw 4 beanbags, trying to get them in a bucket with a hoop round it. He scored 6 points for each beanbag that went in the bucket. he scored 3 points for each beanbag that went in the hoop.
Sam landed all four beanbags inside the bucket or the hoop. What different total scores could Sam have got?
This is good practice at adding in threes and sixes. Also there areĀ various ways of reaching the same total, so a well organised method is needed to make sure that the same totals are not repeated (eg throws of 3, 3, 3, 6 will give the same total as throws of 6, 3, 3 and 3.
