Quick mental division for year 4
Another couple of snappy pages to give children practice with mental division. The first six questions are all answered by saying whether the number statements are true or false. Whilst addition and multiplication can be done in any order, this is not true of division.
Many teachers argue that children should know the division facts as well as multiplication eg 5 multiplied by 6 is 30 and 30 divided by 6 is 5.
The third set of questions looks at dividing by 10. This can be done by moving each digit one place to the right. As they are all amounts of money it is important to make sure there are two digits after the decimal point.
Finally there are a set of questions on dividing by 4. These can be done by halving and halving again.
