Children in Year 3 still need plenty of opportunities both to learn off by heart and to consolidate their knowledge of 2x, 5x and 10x tables. At first children may have to work their way through the whole table to reach any particular answer, but properly learning these tables eventually means instant recall of any one part of them, e.g. 5 x 5 = 25, almost as quickly as saying what their name is!
