Handling data: more bar charts
This week we have published the latest set of worksheets which look at interpreting bar charts, suitable for year 3 children.
An important aspect of this is the reading of the scale on the axis as the vertical axes are marked in multiples of two or ten. As well as reading the correct value children are also asked to make calculations, such as the difference between the number of packets of crisps sold on one day compared to another.
Furthermore, they arer asked to give reasons for some of the results shown; e.g. 'Why were more crisps sold at the weekend than during the week?' There is no fixed correct answer to these types of question and they can be used as starting points in discussions about the information.
These pages can be found in our Year 3 Handling Data category.
