Year 3 weekly programme: week 16
Quite a challenging week ahead with some quite tricky pages. perhaps the hardest is the fraction page where it asks for halves, thirds, fifths and tenths of numbers. An important part of this is to see a fraction as a division e.g. to find 1/4 of a number divide the number by 4 etc. Another tricky challenge this week is to start to learn the 6x table off by heart. This is certainly one of the harder tables to learn and one that many children fail to get to grips with.
Overall this week we are aiming to:
1. add 10p to amounts of money in pounds and pence
2. begin to learn the 6x table (and division by 6)
3. find fractions of small amounts
4. investigate symmetry
5. solve problems involving distance
6. writing the time in words
7. improve mental arithmetic skills
