Year 3 weekly programme: week 18
As we reach the half way point in our year 3 weekly programme the emphasis shifts to Measurement and Handling Data, with just a little bit of tables work to keep everyone on their toes.
By the end of Year 3 it is important to have good knowledge of the metric system and two of the main parts of this is to know what units to use to measure different lengths, weights or volume and to be able to make sensible estimates.
Another key area of study in year 3 is reading the time and being able to work out the length of time between two events.
So, this week we are aiming to:
1. practice quick recall of the 3x and 4x tables
2. solve word problems involving measurement
3. collect, and organise information in tables and graphs
4. use Venn diagrams and Carroll diagrams
5. solve time problems
6. improve mental arithmetic
