Year 3 weekly programme: Week 23
As Easter approaches together with the final couple of weekly sets of worksheets we look once again at learning times tables. By the end of year 3 children should ave a good knowledge of the 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x and 10x tables and be able to say them 'off by heart'.
Learning 'rote fashion' is only a small part of maths; it is important that children can put their knowledge to use, so we have several pages of word problems which need to use all four operations to answer quickly and accurately.
In summary, this week we are aiming to:
1. revise multiplication tables 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x and 10x
2. solve word problems
3.multiply and divide by 4 mentally, including finding quarters
4. find thirds of shapes
5. improve mental arithmetic
