Year 3 Weekly Maths Programme: Week 27
We begin this week's Programme by looking at putting numbers in order continuing number sequences.The number sequences are especially important as they ask for the rule for each sequence to be written down. For example the rule for the sequence 3, 6, 9, 12 is 'add 3'. Once the rule has been found it should be easy to continue the sequence. This is the early beginnings of algebra, which seems to put off many children later in the school careers.
Overall this week we are aiming to:
1. put numbers in order
2. explain rules for number sequences
3. understand tenths
4. multiply quickly by 3, 4, 5 and 6
5. write amounts in pence and pounds
6. investigate making a total of 12
7. improve mental arithmetic
