The word 'fraction' seems to invite terror in the minds of many people. Perhaps it's because in many cases the bigger the number, the smaller the fraction (e.g. 1/2000 is smaller than 1/200) which might be difficult to understand. It might also be that the whole idea of a fraction and what the numbers mean is misunderstood. Here we have a straightforward set of pages looking at finding simple fractions of numbers. The top number (numerator) is always 1 so it is just a matter of dividing by the denominator (bottom number) to reach the answer.
