Year 3 weekly programme: week 33
This week is a consolidation of the work carried out in Week 32. Time is often a problem for children and it is well worth taking some time to look at timetables; these can usually be found in holiday magazines, rail and bus timetables. When working out how long a journey takes it is usually easier to add on the minutes to the next whole hour and work from there. Children also need plenty of practice at converting time written in words to numbers (e.g. twenty to four as 3:40 etc).
Children should also be well acquainted with 3D shapes and their properties. It is still important to have practical experience of shapes such as cuboids, spheres and octagonal prisms, as it is much easier to find the number of faces when looking at a shape than when looking at a drawing of the shape.
