Rounding numbers in Year 4 There are lots of new number targets in Year 4, including rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100 or 1000. The interesting thing about rounding is that the same number can be rounded up or down, depending on the degree of accuracy needed. For example: 5 455 is rounded up to the nearest 10 to make 5 460 is rounded up to the nearest 100 to make 5 500 but is rounded down to the nearest 1 000 to make 5 000.
