URBrainy maths resources
Only a couple of weeks left of the summer holiday – how time flies.
Next term is now on the horizon and children will be going to new classes, or even new schools. It seems that they are suddenly a whole year older and it is important that they begin with confidence, enjoying the thought of the work they will be doing and the friends they are with. Maths is one of those subjects that many children do lack confidence in, so today is the perfect time to start giving them a little boost before the beginning of the school year.
If you are a teacher you will already be preparing and being a member of urbrainy.com helps enormously with this, ensuring that you have plenty of resources at your fingertips.
We are constantly upgrading the site with new materials and this week I would like to highlight two particular sets of resources:
• Partitioning numbers: being able to partition numbers is an important part of work in Year 2 as it helps so much with written subtraction later. We have plenty of excellent worksheets to encourage the development of this skill.

• Learning times tables in Year 3: plenty of practice with the 3x, 4x and 8x tables, including going up to twelve times. It is very important that these multiplication tables are learned ‘off by heart’, so that future written work which depends on knowing tables can be completed easily.
