Teaching about money in year 1
Teaching about money in year 1
We have a great selection of money worksheets for Year 1 children, but have just added four more sets.
Traditionally children have been introduced to coins first and the class shop usually had items costing pence rather than pounds. However, with children now expected to recognise and know the value of different denominations of coins and notes, we thought we would have a closer look at working with the £10 note.
The first set of worksheets is all about adding £10 to various amounts whilst the second looks at how much change will be given when paying with a £10 note (whole pound answers only).
We then move on to ‘Costalot’; an expensive café with all prices in pounds before finishing with a great little £10 change investigation. Don’t forget that we have our very own turtle notes for denominations of £5, £10, £20 and £50 which can be printed out in colour and used to help counting up in fives, tens or more.
