Year 6 formal written methods of multiplication It is very easy to assume that children in year 6 (aged 10/11) will be proficient with long multiplication. However, many children in Year 6 will still be unsure of the formal written method of multiplication and will need a great deal of practice. We have just published a further set of resources on this topic. The questions are laid out in written form but the calculations need to be done using the squares and setting out in columns.
