Year 6 formal written methods of multiplication
Year 6 formal written methods of multiplication
It is very easy to assume that children in year 6 (aged 10/11) will be proficient with long multiplication. However, many children in Year 6 will still be unsure of the formal written method of multiplication and will need a great deal of practice. We have just published a further set of resources on this topic. The questions are laid out in written form but the calculations need to be done using the squares and setting out in columns. These are very similar to the types of arithmetic questions in the new SATs from May 2016 on, so they are excellent practice.
