Year 3-4 dictations for statutory word list
Year 3-4 dictations for statutory word list
We have had several requests for more on the year 3/4 word-lists. Teaching the word-lists for years 3 and 4 is a statutory requirement. The words are a mixture of words pupils frequently use in their writing and those which they often misspell. Once these 100 words have been learned, longer words using prefixes and suffixes can also be introduced.
This week we have published a collection of dictation exercises concentrating on the 100 words. The sets consist of five sentences, each containing at least three of the words from the list. These can be used as short dictation exercises and it is recommended that they are marked immediately afterwards by the children themselves so that they get instant feedback. The whole sentences can be marked for correct spelling, or just the key words.
There are eight sets altogether and can be used in conjunction with the other word-list worksheets.
