Year 3 money worksheets
Our year 3 money category is very comprehensive, but we have just added a further two sets of worksheets to stretch the more able.
The first set looks at adding a number of coins to make a total above £1. Coins provide the ideal opportunity to count on in twos, fives, tens, twenties and fifties and it is still well worth using card or plastic coins to help.
But more than this, it is also an ideal introduction to the decimal point to separate whole pounds from pence. The answers can be given in pence first (eg 145p) and then converted to pounds (eg £1.45).
The second set of pages is a great introduction to solving two step problems, something many children find very hard and which is often introduced later with much larger numbers, making it even more difficult. With each of these questions two separate steps need to be taken (eg addition and subtraction) to reach the answer. The steps are clearly laid out to show exactly what needs to be done.
