Years 5-6 dictations for words in the statutory spelling list
Years 5-6 dictations for words in the statutory spelling list
There are exactly 100 words for children to learn in years 5 and 6 to meet the statutory requirements and we have had a large number of requests for more work using these words, and our very latest set of dictations should really help with this. The list is a mixture of words children frequently use in their writing and those which are often misspelt.
We have divided the word list into ten groups of ten, with a short dictation of between 4 and 5 sentences for each ten words.
When reading the dictations, speak slowly and clearly, reading the whole sentence first, then repeating it at least twice more, in shorter sections. Each sentence is entirely separate and not related to the others.
Include all punctuation e.g. ‘full stop’, ‘opening speech marks’ etc.
Note - some of the words vary slightly from the list, using suffixes, plurals etc.
