The European Championship maths worksheets featuring England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The European Championship maths worksheets
The European Championship starts on the 10th of June in France and what a brilliant opportunity it presents to investigate charts and tables as part of the Statistics (Data Handling) programme. We are excited to have just published a range of excellent pages which look at the European Championships, beginning with a close look at all the European finals since they started in 1960 and it is interesting to note that England, Wales and Northern Ireland have never won the competition, but they have a great chance this year.
Another interesting worksheet looks at the population of the countries that have got through to the finals and poses a hypothesis that the bigger the population the more likely they are to win. Iceland, with a population of less than a million would seem to be outsiders, but other countries with small populations, such as Switzerland, Croatia and Belgium will all think they have a great chance of winning; but will they?
We also take a look at England’s, the Welsh and Northern Ireland’s progress through the preliminary rounds. England won all their games but still came in for a lot of criticism.
The ground capacities worksheet provides a good chance for some addition of large numbers and we conclude with a great investigation of a possible final score of England 5 Wales 5.
