Angles on a straight line
Recognising angles where they meet at a point, are on a straight line, or are vertically opposite, and finding missing angles, are all part of the new Year 6 Programme of Study and will no doubt feature heavily in future year 6 SAT papers.
We have just published our first set of worksheets on calculating angles on a straight line. This is fairly straightforward as angles on one side of a straight line will always add up to 1800. If a line is split into two and one angle is known the other can always be found by subtracting the known angle from 1800. Easy!!
Such work on angle is often shown with a horizontal line but, of course, the line can be in any direction, which can confuse children to begin with.
We have also included some work on finding the third angle of a right angled triangle.
