Finding the mean How mean can statistics questions get? As it happens not very mean at all, as they are usually quite straightforward. We tend to use the word average in everyday speech and finding the mean is very much the same as finding the average. It is quite easy to do: just add up all the numbers and then divide by how many numbers there are. It is a popular question in the KS2 SAT papers.
