New on-screen activities for Years 1, 2 and 3
New on-screen activities for Years 1, 2 and 3
Great news! We have just published more new sets of fabulous on-screen activities for Years 1, 2 and 3.
The Year 1 activities concentrate on addition and subtraction of numbers up to 20, building on our earlier activities with numbers up to 10. Graphics, to help with counting, bar models and number lines are used extensively to help children visualise what they are doing. Each activity is also short, with just 5 or 6 questions before a marked page is shown as well as on-screen rewards. I cannot recommend these activities highly enough for any child that needs a little extra support and practice. They can be played again and again and are ideal for using on iPads or iphones.

In Year 2 we have new activities on division, starting with dividing by 2 with images to help, followed by dividing by 3 and 10. No remainders at this stage. We believe that it is very important to concentrate on just one concept at a time, which is exactly what we do, but we also provide challenges once the concepts have been understood, which our fourth activity covers: dividing by 2, 3 or 10 within the same game.

In Year 3 knowledge of times tables will certainly help answer the questions quickly and accurately as we look at multiplying by 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10. Perhaps the hardest of all our new activities is using the <, > or = sign to compare answers to times tables. Following this, we have sets on dividing by 3, 4 and 8 with no remainders before finishing with finding remainders after division.
