Year 1 Time
Year 1 Time
Time is a crucial part of work in Year 1 and should not just be restricted to reading clock faces. Being able to sequence events is important, including using language such as before and after, next, today, yesterday and tomorrow.
Children are expected to recognise and use days of the week and months of the year, as well as sequence events happening during the day using morning, afternoon and evening.
Of course, telling the time is very important and children will learn to tell the time to the hour and then the half hour.
Seconds, minutes and hours are used to measure and compare lengths of time as well as using terms such as faster, slower, earlier and later.
We have a great new collection of pages all about time which can really help children gain confidence with time.
