Four Rules in Year 2
Four Rules in Year 2
This is a very interesting set of pages where, for each question, the answer is given but the numbers and symbols have to be selected to make the answer correct. Children can choose between three of the signs for any one question but all four signs are used at some point in the page.
Most of our calculations work concentrates on just one process (addition, subtraction, multiplication or division) and we have separate categories for each, but it is just as important for children to use them all during the same piece of work.
It is also worth reminding children that when writing the numbers for addition and multiplication they can be reversed (e.g. 23 + 45 = 45 + 23) but this is not true for subtraction and division (e.g. 45 – 23 is not the same as 23 – 45).
