Year 4 Money
Year 4 Money
In Year 4 I cannot think of a more important topic in maths than money. It is a time for children to really master understanding pounds and pence and the use of decimals. By the end of the year they should be confident with writing money using decimal notation (e.g. £3.45) as well as converting money from pounds to pence and vice versa.
Writing money is a great way to show the value of tenths and hundredths, a key aspect of fractions work. Money is also a superb topic for solving word problems.
We have just added two new sets to our Money category. The first looks at the coins that are needed to make certain amounts. The second considers matching amounts of money written in different ways (e.g. 5 x 75p matches £3.75).
