Year 6 Decimals
In Year 6 children will be working with numbers up to 3 decimal places and multiplying and dividing decimals by 10 and 100. We have plenty of excellent work on this and have just published a set of pages using place value charts to help with numbers with 3 decimal places. Place value charts are a great way to show that when a number is divided by 10 the digits all move one place to the right and when dividing by 100 they all move two places to the right. Try to resist talking about ‘moving the decimal point’; it is the digits which move and the point remains in the same place.
