Coins and Money in Year 2
The last six months will have changed many people’s attitude to money and shopping. Far more transactions are now being made using contactless cards etc and far less using notes and coins. Nevertheless, becoming familiar with coins is an important part of work for children, especially in Year 2.In Year 2 children should be familiar with all the coins we use: 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2. An important part of this is to be able to combine coins to make particular values and we have just published three great sets of worksheets with just this in mind. Two sets look at using coins to make a particular total and the third involves adding coins. As always it is well worth having a large collection of coins available so children can use them to count up with and combine in a variety of ways.Go to Year 2 Money
