Year 3 Writing Money
A key feature of work on money in Year 3 is to encourage children to understand that money can be written in different ways but will still have the same value. Children should have no problems writing amounts in pence, such as 120p but there are a couple of slip-ups that occur when converting this to pounds. Watch out for children who:a. Convert 120p to £1.2. Missing the zero in the hundredths (pence) column. This happens on a calculator but the zero should always be shown on paper.b. Use the pounds sign and the pence sign eg £1.20p. Often seen in market stalls, but not correct! We have a great selection of pages on money for Year 3 and have just published four new sets to help with writing money in pounds and pence.Go to Year 3 Money
