Year 6 Working with Large Numbers
Year 6 Working with Large Numbers
Much of the emphasis in Year 6 is on using much larger numbers, including tens of millions. Our latest sets of worksheets look at the value of digits in large numbers, finding millions more than or less than large numbers, adding multiples of ten thousand and one hundred thousand and rounding the populations of large cities. Understanding place value is crucial for all these activities which is the main reason we have included them in our Number category.
For some really great consolidation work why not take a look at our latest Year 6 on-screen activities – see below for more details.

Year 6 On-screen ActivitiesNew this week are plenty of number, addition and subtraction on-screen activities to help children consolidate their work with large numbers. They include mentally adding and subtracting multiplies of 10,000 and 100,000 and working with millions. There is nothing to fear with working with these large numbers and most will be relatively easy if children have a good knowledge and understanding of working with 2 and 3-digit numbers. We have also added activities on rounding numbers to the nearest 10,000 and 100,000 and adding and subtracting negative numbers.Go to Maths Games: Year 6
