Ordinal Numbers in Year 2. Odd and Even.
Children in Year 2 will use ordinal numbers to describe the position of an object or which order things come in, such as first second and third. There are plenty of practical activities which can be done, from positioning a collection of toys in a row and asking children to describe their order, to having a race and asking who came first, second, third etc.
Days of the week and months of the year can also be used to ask questions,“Which month comes third?” etc.
We have just published some great pages on ordinal numbers using fruit and vegetables and animals and insects to order objects.
We have also recently added three new sets of worksheets on odd and even numbers, well worth looking at.
