Reception: Counting and Matching
Reception: Counting and MatchingAn important part of children’s progress in maths is to learn about one-to-one correspondence. This involves counting a group of objects by matching a number name to each one. This is usually done by touching or pointing to each object in turn. Two further learning targets are that children realise that once the group has been counted it will stay the same and that it doesn’t matter which order they count the group. Our latest sets of pages takes this one step further. Children are asked to count the number in two different groups and to make the smaller group have the same number as the larger by adding more.Go to Maths Later Reception Counting and Matching
