Year 6 Number Games for ‘same day intervention’
Many of the latest developments in teaching maths have originated in the Far East including Singapore and Shanghai, where children make exceptional progress. Part of this approach is ‘same day intervention’. One of the aims of same day intervention is to help those children who have not yet fully grasped aspects of maths taught during the main lesson by giving them extra time later in the day, including having some independent practice time.
This is where our on-screen maths activities can be really useful, supplying unlimited practice for specific number skills. Computer marked answer sheets instantly show success and less teacher/teaching assistant time is needed.
The activities highlighted here are for Year 6 Number, working with very large numbers to find 100,000 and 1,000,000 more or less than numbers. We also have rounding and order of operations on-screen activities.
