Year 6 New Resources
The work on large numbers continues in Year 6, where children are expected to use millions and even larger numbers. We do hear more about large numbers these days, often related to the government’s costs and debts, but understanding the difference between a million and a billion probably needs to be put into some kind of context to make it clearer, for example: a million seconds is about 11 and a half days whilst a billion seconds is almost 32 years.
Our latest resources include a lot of work on larger numbers, including millions, as well as a little algebra, just for fun. They include:
- Add a multiple of 1,000 to make 100,000
- Round 7-digit numbers to the nearest 10,000
- Subtract millions
- Understanding algebra
