Paragraphs are used in writing to introduce new sections of a story, characters or pieces of information. Because they break text up into easy-to-read sections they help readers to enjoy and make sense of what has been written.

Suggestions to help with writing in paragraphs:

1. All the sentences within a paragraph should be about the same person, place, time or topic.
2. When the person, place, time or topic changes, you should start a new paragraph.
3. Every new paragraph should start on a new line.
