Year 4 Decimals
Working with tenths and hundredths are important parts of the Year 4 curriculum and many schools concentrate on this during the first part of the summer term.
Children need to explore different ways of making one whole one by combining tenths. For example, six tenths and four tenths will make one whole one. Once they have become confident with tenths it is time to introduce hundredths, and in the same way children can explore different ways of making one whole one from hundredths.
Number squares, part-whole models and place value counters are all great ways to illustrate this and we have plenty of carefully written pages to help children.
