Palindromes
Many children are fascinated by words, especially when they show peculiarities or idiosyncrasies. Palindromes fit this category very well. A palindrome is a word which spells the same forwards or backwards, such as BIB. Not only is there a good selection of 3 or 4 letter palindromes, but whole phrases have been made. Perhaps the most famous of these is:
A MAN, A PLAN, A CANAL, PANAMA.
This week we have published a fun set of pages which take a close look at palindromes with opportunities for children to find their own, as well as complete some well-known ones.
These pages are just a very small part of our great Vocabulary category which has resources for children across the primary range from words to use instead of ‘said’ to homophones and homonyms.
