New: English KS2 Grammar and Spelling Papers

We have now published the 2024 KS2 Grammar SAT Papers, which, once again, are quite challenging. It was a very similar paper to last year with two key areas covering over half of the questions: grammatical terms or word classes and punctuation.
There were a lot of questions asking, “What is the grammatical term…?” or “What is the word class …..?” A typical example was question 24:
What is the grammatical term for the words in bold below?
If you get tired on the cycle ride, stop and have a break.
Tick one.
- A relative clause
- A noun phrase
- A subordinate clause
- A preposition phrase
It seems that the test writers are very keen on children knowing plenty of grammatical terms – worth knowing when revising for the tests.
The Spelling test was also very similar to previous years with little in the way of easy spellings and plenty of tricky words, including:
- nutritious
- persuasion
- queue
- island
