New £1 coin

The Royal Mint is bringing out a brand new set of coins reflecting King Charles’ passion for conservation and the natural world. The new coins, which we are now starting to see, feature British flora and fauna and will replace the current shield formation that was introduced by Queen Elizabeth II. The designs are so good we couldn’t wait to start re-publishing our pages which display coins.
In August of this year the new £1 coin was introduced. This features two bees to symbolise over 250 species of bee that exist in Britain (and of which nearly 100 also exist in Northern Ireland). There are many types of bee including bumblebees, honey bees, mining bees and mason bees and these insects play a very important role in pollinating many of our plants and fruit trees.
We have started to update our money worksheets to feature the new £1 coin, plus all the other new coin designs, but don’t worry, we will not be removing the worksheets with the old coin designs until the new coins are well established. Within the ‘Money’ categories you will find sections with worksheets featuring the old coins and separate sections with worksheets featuring the new coins. More will follow before too long.
Don’t forget, we also have money worksheets in Australian Dollars, New Zealand Dollars and Euros.
