Free Key Stage 1 Maths SAT Papers
The Key Stage 1 Maths SATs are now optional, but many children in schools will still be taking the papers this May. Past papers are an excellent way to prepare children for the real test. Of particular interest is to see how well they respond to questions read to them as opposed to written questions on paper.
The test consists of two papers.
Paper 1 is an arithmetic test, which is expected to take approximately 20 minutes to complete, but it is not strictly timed. Children can request that a question is read to them, on a one-to-one basis. If a question is read out loud only the numbers may be read, not mathematical symbols.
Paper 2 is a reasoning test, which is expected to take about 35 minutes to complete. There are two sections; an aural section and a written section. It is important that the instructions are followed, especially when reading questions to children.
We have recently updated the site so that the 2022, 2023 and 2024 test papers are available, including how to administer the test and full mark schemes.
All the tests are freely available.
