A key skill in measurement in Year 3 is for children to be able to use and understand scales. Number lines are a great help with this. Working out what the interval gaps are on number lines gives children plenty of practice ensuring they are better able to read scales on measuring equipment. Not only is this important in measurement but also when reading graphs.
