Year 6: The Mean

In the real world we generally talk about the average of a set of data but in maths the term ‘mean’ is often used. To find the mean of a set of data all the numbers need to be added together. This sum is then divided by the total number of numbers that were added. This is often called the mean average.
Children in Year 6 will be expected to calculate the mean as an average and we have just published a great set of worksheets with word problems linked to the mean. This is an excellent addition to our statistics resources.
