In Year 2 children should re-visit work on comparing mass using balance scales before being introduced to standard units of measurement. Again, balance scales will be used with a variety of 5g/10g/20g masses. It is a good idea to keep to smaller items up to 100g as children generally do not work with larger numbers until Year 3. Circular scales are also introduced, where arrows point directly to a number.
