Year 3: Angles

If there is a single thing which will help children understand angle it is that an angle describes an amount of turn. The greater the angle, the greater the amount of turn. The starting point and finishing point of the turn are shown by two straight lines that meet at a point. The angle is created where the two lines meet.
In Year 2 children will have come across turns of a quarter, half, three-quarters and a whole turn. In Year 3 a quarter turn is called a right angle. Two right angles are equal to half a turn and four right angles are equal to a full turn.
Children can now go on to describe angles as greater or less than a right angle and that is exactly what our latest set of worksheets does. Together with new pages on recognising right angles in shapes these are excellent additions to our resources on angle in Year 3.
