Year 1: Time
Teaching time in Year 1 is more than just reading the time on a clock face. Days of the week, months of the year and a variety of vocabulary related to time will all be taught.
To help with this we have just published a great selection of new resources. The first two sets look at ‘before’ and ‘after’, using illustrations. It is important for young children to explore the vocabulary of time in different contexts.
The next two sets look at days of the week and months of the year. Children will learn the sequence of the days of the week and a calendar is a good way of displaying days of the week, leading onto naming which day was yesterday and which day is tomorrow. Our illustrated calendar is just the job for this work.
In a similar vein, our new pages on the calendar will continue to develop children’s understanding of before and after. Together with our extensive range of resources on time these most recent pages are all well worth a look at.
