Year 3: Two-way Tables

Statistics is often taught at the end of the academic year, perhaps being considered less important than other areas of the maths curriculum. However, in an age where we are inundated by data it is important that children can understand and interpret the facts and figures presented to them. Two-way tables are a neat way to show information, but children will need some time to consider how this type of table works. It is worth asking children what they can see in a two-way table, considering rows and columns in turn, especially how to work out totals.
We have just published some great new resources covering two-way tables, well worth a look.
