Year 5: Estimating Capacity
There is a subtle difference between the terms capacity and volume of a container. The capacity of a jar, for example, is how much liquid it can hold, whilst the volume is the amount of liquid actually in the jar. Children in Year 5 are expected to know and understand this difference. They will also be expected to judge which of two containers will have the greater capacity.
