Our latest data handling pages encourage children to collect their own data and then to use this data to make pictograms. Two sets provide ideas, such as collecting data on houses; number of chimneys, front gardens, driveways etc. The third set provides a blank template for children to select their own information. They will need to think carefully about what data to collect, how to record it and how to represent the data as a pictogram, including choosing a suitable symbol.
